DPD’s QR Codes & Mobile Optimized Microsites Generate Event Success

Midwest ENERGY Association is a membership association focused on serving the people and businesses that deliver electricity and natural gas.  They are known in their industry for coordinating engaging and educational events such as the National Gas Rodeo where elite gas crews, from across the U.S., have an opportunity to take their everyday job skills and showcase them in a competitive environment.

In early May 2011, MEA held their Electric Operations Technical and Leadership Summit where they featured the use of Quick Response (QR) Codes and a mobile optimized website designed specifically for the event.

MEA leadership partnered with DPD to feature the QR Codes on table tents at registration, during a happy hour and on banners.  The QR Codes directed the attendees smart phones to DPD designed mobile web pages that featured the daily agenda for each of the three days of the conference, a daily highlights page with fun trivia and included links to their Facebook page.

DPD also created QR Codes with direct links to MEA’s existing Facebook pages and was able to launch the mobile site and provide signage with the QR Codes for MEA’s event in less than two weeks.

In early June MEA had a QR Code drive their membership to a mobile web page detailing a top ten list of why their members should attend their upcoming Energetic Women Conference.  The top ten list included external links to web pages with a list of their event sponsors and to a YouTube video that showcased past event attendees experience with the event.  Within two days of MEA sending out the QR Code they saw 50 visits to their mobile website.
